Instrument Rating (IR)


The IR course provides students with the required training to obtain an Instrument Rating in a single or multi-engine aircraft, which allows pilots to fly an aircraft under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) in controlled airspace.

The complete Instrument Rating course is comprised of 55 hours instructional flying. For single-engine IR, all 55 hours are completed in a single-engine (SE) aircraft, whereas for the multi-engine (ME) IR, up to 40 hours may be completed in a SE aircraft, with the remaining 15 completed with a ME variant.
